Car insurance is sold as a single price, which is why so few drivers can say what they are paying for. The declarations page lists six or seven separate coverages, each priced individually, each doing a completely different job.

These tools take that page apart. Liability protects other people and is the part worth increasing; collision and comprehensive protect a depreciating asset and eventually stop earning their premium. Knowing which is which is worth more than shopping around, and it takes about five minutes.

Why use AutoInsuranceTools

Your declarations page, not an average

Every calculation starts from the numbers printed on your own policy. No industry averages, no assumed rates, and nothing invented.

The decisions drivers actually face

Should the deductible go up? Is comprehensive still worth it on a nine-year-old car? Would a total loss clear the loan? Each has its own calculator.

Six-month terms handled properly

Auto policies are usually written for six months. Every cost tool annualises so a car quote can be compared against anything else.

Nothing leaves your browser

No account, no quote form, no broker on the other end. The calculations run on your device and nothing you type is stored or sent.

How it works

  1. Find your declarations page - your insurer will email a copy if you do not have one.
  2. Pick the calculator matching the decision you are trying to make.
  3. Enter the figures from the policy, not from memory.
  4. Copy or download the result to take into a conversation with your agent.

Frequently asked questions

Can you give me a car insurance quote?

No. Rates are proprietary and filed state by state, and no free calculator has access to them. These tools work from quotes you already have so you can understand and compare them.

Will my details be sent to an insurance company?

No. There is no quote form and no lead generation on this site. Every calculation runs inside your browser and nothing is transmitted.

Should I drop collision and comprehensive on an old car?

It depends on the value of the car, the deductible and the premium for those coverages specifically. The comprehensive coverage calculator works out the threshold - and a lender may require the cover regardless.

How much liability coverage do I actually need?

Enough to cover what a claim could reach: your assets plus future income. State minimums are set to keep uninsured drivers off the road, not to protect your savings.

Do I need an account to use these tools?

No. There is no sign-up, no login and no email requirement anywhere on this site.
