Insurance quotes are only comparable after you normalise them
Four tools that remove the distortions from a quote comparison: different coverage amounts, bundle discounts funded by reduced cover, payment plans priced as credit, and first-year pricing that does not survive the second renewal.
Quote Comparison Table
Normalise three quotes onto a rate per $1,000 of coverage so a higher premium buying more cover is not mistaken for a worse deal.

- No - the cheapest premium is not the best value per dollar of cover

- 14.39%
This is an estimate based on the values you entered. Actual premiums, coverage, eligibility and pricing vary by provider and by individual circumstances.
A premium only means something alongside the cover it buys. The rate per $1,000 is what makes quotes at different coverage amounts genuinely comparable.
Equal rates do not mean equal policies. Deductibles, exclusions and claim handling still have to be read.

Three quotes arrive with different coverage amounts, different deductibles, different payment plans and different discount structures, and the natural response is to compare the premiums. That comparison is almost always wrong, and it is wrong in a predictable direction: it favours whichever carrier quoted the least cover.
Each of these tools removes one specific distortion. Together they turn a stack of incomparable quotes into a ranking that reflects what you would actually pay for what you would actually get.

Why use InsuranceComparisonTools
Normalised by coverage
Rate per $1,000 makes a $1,480 quote for $420,000 of cover directly comparable to a $1,290 quote for $320,000.
Bundle discounts tested honestly
A bundle that wins by quoting less cover is not a saving. Price the coverage difference and see whether the discount survives it.
Payment plans priced as credit
Instalment fees are interest quoted in dollars. The comparison converts them into an implied annual rate you can weigh against anything else.
Beyond year one
Carriers price new business and renewals from separate books. The projection shows which quote is cheaper over the period you actually stay.
How it works
- Normalise every quote by coverage first - it frequently reorders them.
- Adjust any bundle quote for coverage differences before believing the discount.
- Price the payment plan separately from the premium.
- Project the two survivors forward across your real holding period.
Frequently asked questions
Why do carriers quote different coverage amounts?
Because their replacement cost estimators use different assumptions. A large discrepancy is worth resolving before choosing on price - one of the estimates is probably out of date.
Is the best rate per $1,000 always the best policy?
No. It is the best value per dollar of cover on the figures entered. Exclusions, deductibles, claim handling and carrier strength still have to be read.
How large is a bundle discount really?
It varies by carrier, state and combination, which is why these tools work from your own quotes rather than an assumed percentage - and why the coverage adjustment matters.
What increase rate should I use for the projection?
Your own renewal notices over the last three years with no coverage changes between them. That already reflects how the carrier behaves toward you specifically.
Do you collect the quotes I enter?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing is transmitted, logged or stored, and there is no account to create.
