Free Private Trading Journal Tools
A record of decisions, not just of prices
A journal that stores everything in your browser, an analyzer that turns a column of results into real statistics, and two checklists - one for before the trade and one for after it closes.

Trade Review Checklist
A structured review after a trade closes: what happened, what was decided, and what to change - separating process from outcome.

Memory edits a trading record in a consistent direction. Winners stay vivid, losses compress, and the trades taken outside the plan tend to disappear entirely. A written record is the only correction for that, and it has to include the decision as well as the result.
Everything here runs locally. The journal uses IndexedDB, the checklists use local storage, and the analyzer never sees your data at all because it never leaves the page. There is no account, which means there is also no copy anywhere - export regularly.

Why use TradingJournalTools
No account, no upload, no copy
Entries live in your browser. That is the privacy benefit and the whole risk, which is why export to JSON and CSV is built in.
Statistics from a single column
Win rate, expectancy, profit factor, streaks and maximum drawdown all fall out of a list of results in chronological order.
Process separated from outcome
A losing trade taken correctly is a good trade. The review checklist is built so that distinction survives contact with the result.
The steps that get skipped
Stop placement, calculated sizing, the daily limit. A checklist catches them precisely when a position feels urgent.
How it works
- Run the pre-trade checklist before entering - especially when it feels unnecessary.
- Record the trade with its setup and whether it followed the plan.
- Review it after it closes, answering the process questions without looking at the result.
- Paste the results column into the analyzer once you have a meaningful sample.
Frequently asked questions
Where is my journal stored?
In your browser, using IndexedDB. It is never uploaded and no account or server holds a copy. Nobody but you can read it, and nobody but you can recover it.
What happens if I clear my browser data?
The journal is deleted permanently. Export to JSON regularly and keep the file somewhere backed up - that is the only recovery route.
Can I use the journal on two devices?
Not automatically. Export from one and import on the other. Synchronisation would require an account and a server, which this deliberately does not have.
How many trades do I need before the statistics mean anything?
Twenty tells you almost nothing. A hundred begins to be informative. Streaks in particular are very unstable in small samples.
Is any of this financial advice?
No. These are record-keeping and process tools for informational and educational purposes. Nothing here recommends a trade, a strategy or a risk level.
